several years ago I was thinking of how many images were possible (see the original post here). At the time, I was contemplating copyright and the possibility of accidentally recreating a previous work.
I have just come across a Youtube video exploring the same concept. He provides a much better (but still mind boggling) explanation of the math behind the number of images possible.
