OK, I did it. I defected to the Mac camp.

Way back in the day I got started using Microsoft Windows as an operating system simply based on price. Once Photoshop was available for the platform, I found it hard to justify the difference in price. Also, back then, many printers and other peripherals did not work on the Apple platform.

Over the years I became more and more disillusioned with the Windows way of working. In fact, my computer of choice was running Linux{{1}}. I really liked the look and the control I had with Linux, but it was not quite up to my standards for photography work. I ended up running Photoshop and Lightroom in a virtual machine, but that was far from ideal.

To make a long story short, I ended up getting almost $2000 in “free” money, so I sprung for a Macbook Pro. I am still setting it up and getting used to its idiosyncrasies, but so far I am wondering why I did not switch years ago…

[[1]]My latest setup was Mint running KDE on my desktop and SolydK (which sounds like a breakfast cereal) on my laptop. [[1]]
